Charlie Hunnam is set to star as serial killer Ed Gein in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming true crime series, Monster

The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed that Charlie Hunnam will be portraying real-life killer Ed Gein in the second season of Ryan Murphy’s upcoming true crime series, Monster.

The series is a continuation of Murphy’s American Crime Story anthology, which has already aired two seasons, The People v. O.J. Simpson and The Assassination of Gianni Versace. Monster will focus on different serial killers throughout history, with the first season centering on Jeffrey Dahmer, played by Evan Peters.

Hunnam is best known for his roles in Sons of Anarchy, Pacific Rim, and The Gentlemen. He will next be seen in Guy Ritchie’s upcoming action film Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre.

Gein was a notorious serial killer who murdered and mutilated at least five women in the 1950s and 1960s. He was known for his gruesome crimes, which included cannibalism and necrophilia. Gein was eventually caught and sentenced to life in prison, where he died in 1984.

The second season of Monster is expected to premiere on Netflix in 2023.
