Jace Jung Back in Lineup Wednesday
Milwaukees’ prospect Jace Jung is set to return to the lineup Wednesday
Jung suffered a left shoulder impingement in spring training
The Milwaukee Brewers’ top prospect, third baseman Jace Jung, is set to return to the lineup Wednesday, according to manager Craig Counsell. Jung has been out since March 17th with a left shoulder impingement.
Jung, 22, was the Brewers’ first-round pick in the 2022 MLB Draft. He hit .321/.413/.522 with 33 home runs and 105 RBIs in 129 games between Class-A and Double-A last season.
Jung was expected to compete for a starting job with the Brewers this season, but the shoulder injury derailed those plans. He began a rehab assignment with Triple-A Nashville on May 25th, and he has gone 3-for-12 with a home run and two walks in three games.
Jung’s return is a boost for the Brewers, who have been without several key players due to injury. Shortstop Willy Adames (ankle) and outfielder Christian Yelich (back) are both on the injured list, and first baseman Rowdy Tellez (oblique) is day-to-day.
The Brewers are currently 28-28, fourth place in the NL Central. They will face the Chicago Cubs at Wrigley Field on Wednesday.
