Inter Miami's Gonzalo HiguaĆn relishes scoring title race with Lionel Messi
Argentine striker hoping to outscore his compatriot and lead his team to MLS Cup glory
HiguaĆn has scored 12 goals in 16 games this season, while Messi has 11 in 15
Inter Miami's Gonzalo HiguaĆn is relishing the opportunity to compete with Lionel Messi for the MLS Golden Boot title.
The Argentine striker has scored 12 goals in 16 games this season, while Messi has 11 in 15. With just four games remaining in the regular season, the race is heating up.
"It's an honor to be mentioned in the same breath as Messi," HiguaĆn said. "He's the best player in the world, and it's a challenge to try to outscore him."
HiguaĆn is hoping to lead Inter Miami to their first MLS Cup title this season. The team is currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, but they have a chance to make a run in the playoffs.
"We have a good team, and we're all working hard to achieve our goals," HiguaĆn said. "We know it will be difficult, but we're confident that we can do it."
HiguaĆn's goalscoring prowess has been a key factor in Inter Miami's success this season. He has scored in each of the team's last four games, and he has helped them to win their last three.
If HiguaĆn can continue to score goals, he will have a good chance of winning the Golden Boot title. And if he can lead Inter Miami to MLS Cup glory, it will be a dream come true.
