Nikola Jokic recorded his 10th career triple-double as the Denver Nuggets defeated the New Orleans Pelicans 125-113 on Friday night. The reigning NBA MVP finished with 27 points, 14 assists, and 10 rebounds to lead the Nuggets to their fourth consecutive victory.
Jokic was efficient from the field, shooting 9-of-14, and also had 3 steals and 2 blocks. Jamal Murray added 26 points for Denver, while Aaron Gordon contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds.
The Pelicans were led by Brandon Ingram's 25 points. Zion Williamson added 23 points and 11 rebounds, but it wasn't enough to overcome Jokic and the Nuggets.
The Nuggets took control of the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Pelicans 35-17 to take a 65-48 halftime lead. Jokic had 12 points, 7 assists, and 5 rebounds in the period.
The Pelicans cut the lead to 10 points in the third quarter, but they couldn't get any closer. Jokic hit a three-pointer to extend the lead to 13 points with 6:30 remaining, and the Nuggets cruised to the victory.
The Nuggets will look to extend their win streak on Sunday when they host the Minnesota Timberwolves. The Pelicans will return home to face the Los Angeles Lakers on Monday.
